Description

The opening page of the issue where Selina Kyle gives up her infant daughter, Helena, for adoption. Earlier in the day she gave Helena to Bruce so that she will never be able to find her. Now, she is drinking alone on the clock tower awaiting Zatanna, whom she will ask to permanently erase Helena from her memory.

As this Catwoman series was cancelled a few issues later and the last few years of character development were retconned, Zatanna's magic seemed to work.

It is a shame because this was the end of probably the richest ongoing exploration of Selina Kyle (started by Brubaker & Cooke a few years earlier).

Things to notice:
Next to the inked Catwoman are the original blue lines depicting her weeping on her knees rather than standing. The original kneeling sketch seems much sadder to me.

I have a title page in my gallery by the same penciler/inker duo (Catwoman #66), and in both you can find the inker's initials '@AL' hidden in the inking. Here, the '@AL' is on the taxi whereas in my other Catwoman page, it is written as vibration lines in a puddle of water.
