Description

After being introduced a few issues earlier, Magma gets her first taste of the world outside of Nova Roma in New Mutants issue 12. (spoiler - she freaks out!) She does a bit of reforming to the landscape of Rio before her trip to Westchester.

My first introduction to Mike Allred's work was on his run on X-force. So I thought it would be great to get his take on one of the earliest mutants from X-force's progenitor, The New Mutants.

Such an amazing commission, I have yet to get an Allred piece and this one is perfection. Love Magma and this Allred illustration captures her intensity so well. Such a fun detailed piece with the right parts which make a signature Allred.

The body language shown by Allred is one of joyous celebration. Magma is an easy character for his skills of miming through the characters, so he decided to go all out on the backgrounds.
