DescriptionBirds & Cherubs illustration by Katie Blackmore, circa 1930s.One of the more "off the beaten path" pieces in my collection that doesn't apply to comic art really. Have a few of those. A lovely decorative illustration by British artist Katie Blackmore. Four birds and four angelic children are pictured in this highly detailed piece created in mixed media on toned onion-skin paper with an image size of 10.75" x 16", matted and framed to 15.75" x 22.25". This is probably the oldest piece in my collection, as it is thought to have been drawn during the 1930s, on toned onion-skin paper no less, which is a first for me. The piece has been through a lot with wear and tear, creases, rips, and spot staining. I've likely even damaged it further on my own as it feels fragile enough that it could just fall apart from breathing on it lol, but I enjoy the imagery and uniqueness of the piece. This piece was once part of the Forbes Collection Gallery (Forbes Magazine gallery on 5th Ave in NYC) and now I'm happy to have it on my walls. Social/Sharing |

Well, well, well, what a pleasant surprise to see you've even dipped your toes into some vintage non-comics illustration! It's very nice and the nice thing is you can find and enjoy tons of non-comics illustration for prices which are comparatively dirt cheap. If you like illustration, comics are not the end all be all. Proud to see this in your gallery!

Thanks Ruben, and yes very affordable stuff - almost felt like I was rescuing it in a way and giving it new life. Def a unique piece for me.

Birth page of Warren Worthington III, Zauriel, Angela, and Clarence Odbody! A whimsical piece that touches the soul and is just as fragile as the innocence they embody.
