Description

Casey Ruggles was a western adventure strip that ran from May of 1949 until October of 1955. The strip was created by the artist, Warren Tufts and had assistants and ghosts including Nick Cardy, Al Plastino and Alex Toth. At it’s height, Casey Ruggles was considered for a TV show, but United Feature put the kibosh on that idea because they were convinced it would hurt the popularity of the strip. In protest of that treatment, Tufts left and went on to create and draw the western strip, Lance. Tufts died in a plane crash (in a plane of his own design) in 1982.

Nice example. Sublime lighting and the beautiful rendering of the female character stand out on this one.
