Description

Absolutely fantastic Indiana Jones cover by the great Drew Struzan, for the 7th Bantam book “Indiana Jones and the Sky Pirates” (1992). I’ve been a huge fan of Indy for a looong time, but as (almost) all the official Struzan Indy movie poster artwork resides in George Lucas collection, this left the Indiana Jones Bantam book covers as the next best alternative (Drew did 12 of these between 1991 and 1996)…
The ones among you that are familiar with Drew’s work will not be surprised that the piece is huge!!! The artboard measures 102cm x 76cm, with the artwork for front-/backcover taking up a whooping 70cm x 52cm…
The main picture shows front- & backcover together, please also look at the additional pictures to get an idea how amazing Drew’s art is!!!
Besides as a book cover, this was also published as a large double page-spread in the amazing “Oeuvre” book on Drew Struzan…

That heavy texturing and impasto is really nice on the backgrounds to allow for all that fine work around the explosions, characters, and planes to stand out with their sharpness.
