DescriptionTimm's Power Girl is more appealing to me than the way the character is usually drawn. Save perhaps for Vampirella's outfit, Power Girl's costume is as cheesy and gratuitous as a teenage boy could hope to glimpse on a mainstream Western comic book character, but Timm makes her less racy and more girl next door, which somehow works IMO. Timm's Power Girl is also more about the hips than the bust, further bucking tradition, but I'd say that's also an inspired choice. Unlike the other Timm pieces I have, neither the type nor the brush strokes he went with here are so clearly influenced by Kirby's style. There really are two flavors of Bruce Timm pieces for me, the Kirby homages and the straight Timm works. In any case, I really like this drawing!Thanks for taking a look! Social/Sharing |

Yes! For all my rambling in the description, I failed to mention this. The combo of straights and curves together with the line weight variation is pleasing (and there's no spare lines in this drawing). And I'd wager that the contrast in the shoulder and hip angles combined with the exaggerated contrapposto would satisfy Michelangelo were he to have lived to see it

Agreed that most other artists depictions tend to be more bust oriented. While catering to that male fantasy is a good crutch for an artist, it's thoroughly impractical for a super-hero. At least Bruce has the good sense to draw her in a way that doesn't try to convince us that the power of Power Girl isn't in her boobs.

I am smitten by her booby window and intrigued by her curvy figure. To say anything else would be disingenuous and me acting indifferent just to impress the boys. Timm knows what works as a pin up as he has done thousands of nudey drawings to celebrate the female figure and not a bunch of lines.

I love the inking on this. It's both powerful and delicate in the right places. A great addition to you collection!
