Description
Here is Williamson's original layout for one of the panels on page 24 of the 1966 King Comics Flash Gordon issue 1. Read the story of Ray Cuthbert's Quest for Flash Gordon 1 on the Internet! Thanks, Ray, you're a champ for selling me this keepsake from that groundbreaking issue!

Very lovely. I can see that you are a fan of Flash Gordon, so it's nice that you have been able to obtain a couple of pieces by Al Williamson. IMHO, he was the definitive Flash Gordon artist after Alex Raymond himself.

Thank you again, Ben, for your kind words. Yes, Al Williamson was, by far, my favorite comic artist from the 1960's through the time of his last works. I was able to acquire a copy of his "Sketchbook" by Vanguard Press about 20 years ago, and I believe this sketch was published in it. If I am mistaken about that, I know the sketch you see in my galleries (marked "some nudity") was definitely in the "Sketchbook". He brought to life for these wonderful characters, and I still treasure all 37 issues of the comic which was first published in 1966 and ended in 1982.
