DescriptionBatman Beyond #8 Pg. 16 SplashPencils by Chris Batista Inks by Rich Perrotta Written by Adam Beechen This is a really cool splash page of the Batman Beyond universe rogues gallery villain, Inque. Inque is a metahuman polymorph/shapeshifter who is able to change her size and shape at will, as well as super strength, telescopic vision, and the ability to camouflage with her surroundings among her powers set. Inque was first introduced in the Batman Beyond cartoon show (3rd episode of the show that aired Jan 1999) and would appear 4 times (the most of any rogues in Batman Beyond), as well as a cameo in Justice League Unlimited. And of course she has also appeared in the Batman Beyond comics such as in this example of issue #8 from the 2011 run which was focused on her character/story. In the OA itself, I especially love the use of negative space, character movement, and the background city/building details. It sort of has a Black Suit Spidey vibe to me reminiscent of or paying homage to John Byrne's cover to Spectacular Spider-Man #101. See the published version in the additional images. Thanks to Anthony Snyder for this one at one of the Big Apple Comic Con events! Song Choice: "Batman Beyond (Main Theme)" by Kristopher Carter. Social/Sharing |

Great splash, but I bet you can't say metahuman polymorph/shapeshifter three times fast!

I love high contrast pages, so obviously this is a winner. The blacks are incredibly well balanced!

A really unique piece from Batista. I'm familiar with his work on books like The Legion of Superheroes but I really like the striking aesthetic he brought to Batman Beyond.

I've long thought that Chris Batista is an underrated artist. This page makes my case for me.

Imagine a whole issue done like this! Pretty easy to see what's going on even with the unusual telecommunications tower.

I like the choices made by the colorist for the published cover, but I like the B&W OA even more! Amazing how the figure is clear while conveying the camo ability. Great design in this piece!

I keep looking at this one; it's mesmerizing. I like the separation between the foreground and background. Yet the curved white line of the building picks up the curved white lines on the figure uniting the two. It was so well-thought out. I'm sure you can just stare at it.... Congrats!

I'm not familiar with the character but love the design and the beautifully done buildings. Almost has a Blade Runner feel. Congrats!
