I do love when comic strips intersect with history. This is an example of one of H.T. Webster's Life's Darkest Moment panel, featuring a father telling his daughter that she cannot fly across the Atlantic. This appeared in print on June 26, 1928. Days earlier, on June 17, Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic, though she did so as a passenger, which she wasn't thrilled with. The date of the cartoon makes it seem wildly topical, but Earhart was support to fly quite a bit earlier, but a number of flights were delayed due to bad weather. So Webby had much more of a heads-up about the flight than 11 days. Cool stuff.
