This was always one of my favourite covers of the run. I just love the massive, overpowering Nova figure that makes you feel like he's going to stomp your ass! The fact that one of the figures in the montage scenes is The Sandman kicks even more ass. Tip of the cap to you, Dino!

A three ring circus of a cover with the main image of Nova holding it together! They always broke these out to pump up sales as it can't be helped that peope get intrigued with so many questions to be answered within! Buckler took his cues from the best and Sinnott would be able to polish it up into a wholly Mighty Marvel Masterpiece.

This is a weirdly memorable cover to what was, basically, a setup issue for the appearance of a big mystery villain. The main image is so dynamic and the montage contains a lot of good ol' Bronze Age action. Love the "Validar" signature!
Thanks Timothy. Rich Buckler was still under contract with DC Comics at the time and signed the cover using his "Ron Validar" pseudonym lol.

You were one day off from posting issue 13 on Friday the 13th. So close! But that's OK, because this cover is super sweet! Love the multi-action Nova scene. And you even got my favorite Sandman design iteration. Killer stuff. Congrats!
I do love a cover that has multiple scenes depicted on it. Buckler and Sinnott knew how to create an exciting cover that enticed the reader to check out what's inside.
