Description
There’s two pieces of Gary Frank art that would be grails to me. A number of years ago I had a chance to own one of them, and got into a fierce bidding war on it, but ultimately lost.

When I stumbled on this page at auction I put in a max bid that was far beyond what I put in on the aforementioned grail page. I’ve never read Earth One, and everything I know about it comes from a web search I did before posting this to identify the inker. So why did I bid so much?

It’s the last panel. It looks so much like my father back in the 1990s you’d think Frank used a photo of my dad for reference. I showed the page to my father, and he was weirded out enough by it that I know I’m not imagining the resemblance.

Very cool story.  When I was 12, I once saw a page in Saga of the Swamp Thing where Abbey was drawn to resemble a girl I knew, but was too afraid to let her know I was reading funny books.  I never got over the drawing even though I got over the girl.

When I get around to posting the grail of my collection you'll be highly amused by the tale of what happened minutes after I laid eyes on the finished piece.
