Here we see Anna and Ethan doing recon to catch somebody placing dirty diapers in a mailbox, of all things. The scene is set with Ethan's vintage van (a great "character" in its own right) parked in a leafy suburb. I wanted a page showing the two on a case together and the portraits on this page are right on for my taste --- every face here looks flawless IMO while still showcasing Phillips's loose, expressive style. Anna is as emotive as Ethan is stoic, and the contrast in how the shadows are handled on the two of them is terrific.

I'm as fond of the "Reckless" books as I am of Phillips and Brubaker's amazing "Criminal" series, and Destroy All Monsters is my favorite Reckless volume so far. Among other things, this story focuses on the relationship between Ethan and Anna, his partner in investigation & revenge, and it includes Anna's origin story.

Reckless has been absolutely incredible. What great pages you scored. Anna's story in this book really gets you the feels for the character. What a super page.

Is it me, or is Phillips drawing Ethan to look like a younger Redford? More pages from Reckless is going to get you known as Reckless, Reckmore!

I was just about to say that, yeah has to be! I like this page. Could be a storyboard from any cop movie you;ve ever seen.

My guess is that the recurring characters in Phillips's pages are based on specific friends or professional models he shoots for each job he does, but I don't know and maybe he is using a young Redford as his model for Ethan.

As for the model for Ethan, my guess is that the recurring characters in Phillips's pages are based on specific friends or professional models he shoots for each job he does, but I don't know and maybe he is using a young Redford as his model for Ethan.
