Mutt and Jeff is one of the most famous and longest running strips having started in 1907. The strip was popular, Bud became a celebrity and "Mutt and Jeff" entered the common vernacular to mean a tall and short person paired together.

In spite of still not owning a single example, Mutt & Jeff is one of my all-time favourite humor strips. This is a fun example for two reasons. Not only does it have a good gag, but it also shows that the still commonly used expression "pushing up daisies" goes back at least over a hundred years. Really neat!

Kinda saw the gag coming on this one;) –but delightfully drawn as usual. His technique of patching in bits of background is so neat, I'm surprised it's not more used.
