DescriptionI've been a lifelong Star Trek fan so imagine my surprise when I was commissioned to do a Deanna Troi. With consultation with my best friend who's more of a Trekkie than I am, I've come up with this composition. Basically it's the Counselor trapped in a set of ancient catacombs trying desperately to escape. To that end, she's trying to dig her way to freedom via that phaser rifle at her side. The art tutorial videos that Toronto artist David Finch has been posting since the pandemic started has been really helpful, so thanks, Dave! So far what you see on this 11 x 14" 98 lb. Canson sheet is pencil work with 2H Staedtler aided by both Micron and LePens graphic ink pens. For me the challenge is conveying the background in a way that will allow for the oncoming color rendering more space to breathe. With the torch being the only source of light, it will require yellowish-reds, dark orange, and deeper reddish-violet tones on Deanna and the surrounding areas. More as it develops.Social/Sharing |
