The Corned Beef and Cabbage must be really good, but I'm guessing Dinty is serving more than just meals during Prohibition.
McManus was an artist to be reckoned with!
Great example from this classic strip! I just screened Gertie the Dinosaur by Winson McCay, which I had for some reason never before seen in its entirety, and was amused to see McManus paying for the dinner after conceding the bet. He bears a striking resemblance to Jiggs to my eye.
Amazing to see artwork from a strip that is more than a century old. Both the artwork and the joke hold up well, but that's why Bringing Up Father is a classic of the art form. Thanks for sharing!
Gorgeous McManus strip! I love Bringing Up Father for both the gags and the art. McManus was a master of both.
