Description

So Mike was posting these daily pencil drawings on instagram in the early part of COVID lockdown, and ended up auctioning them off to raise money for World Central Kitchen, a nonprofit bringing food to those impacted by natural disasters and humanitarian crises.

He'd been doing themed runs. Breakfast Cereal Mascots. Universal Monsters. Robot versions of Universal monsters. Robot versions of superheroes. Victorian Gentlemen with Vegetable heads. Etc. When he started with Marvel Monsters, I got excited...

See a few years back I'd done a run of covers for a Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe (OHOTMU) update series. One cover featured this guy, and I got obsessed absolutely with him. I remember running around the studio at 3 AM yelling GOOOOOOOOGAM SON OF GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!! (I can get a bit frisky during deadline crunches).

So when Mike got to my favorite son, I knew he was for me.

And yes, I yelled the thing when I opened the package. There's even video evidence, (featuring lockdown hair), here

The guy has a bigger personality than his stature! Mignola kept at it and inspired others to keep creating during lockdown!
