DescriptionPaul's art on this Widow story and the portfolio from the same time period were seminal influences on my neophyte comic fandom. So despite my self-imposed pause on art-buying, the opportunity to acquire a page of original art became impossible to resist.Social/Sharing |

Nice to see such good likenesses of Michael Caine and Humphrey Bogart here!

Prime Gulacy at his best and even cooler with the classic Hollywood crossover. Certainly makes me want to locate and read that story.

Those early Black Widow projects and his 1978 Sabre graphic novel with Don McGregor made me a Gulacy fan for life. This page has everything I love about Gulacy. Congrats, great pickup!

Yes, amazing early Gulacy -- he was very influenced by Steranko, I think, but his work is unmistakeable. He always retained his great skills, but the enthusiasm for experimentation he showed in his early work -- like this one -- is really special.

Oozes with noir suspense with great style in isolating what we see and don't see to make out focus more sharp. Looks like Caine from the Movie "Pulp". The brick walls look just as stark in contrast for the characters to springboard from that plane.

Should you really use the terms, Black Widow, seminal influences and impossible to resist in the same paragraph? Photo realistic artwork clearly had a corrupting influence on you.
