DescriptionSuperman Family #176 p#6 (1976) Kurt SchaffenbergerThis Bronze age classic page is pure Schaffenberger which is always a treat. Superman is featured in every panel using his powers. Great second panel with large image of Superman in flight with his arm extending into the first panel which features Jimmy Olsen (it was his story in the issue). Great close up of Superman in the fourth panel using his x-ray vision and then some cool use of shading in the fifth panel as Superman turns into a human drill to combat a forest fire. What a great page! With the new year I'm trying to actively share new purchases so happy to list this eBay win and hope you enjoy. Page has special meaning coming from my fourth issue of Superman Family from when I started collecting comics. I also have a few other pages from this story in my collection that I won on Heritage some years back but if memory serves, they didn't feature Superman, and certainly not as prominently as this page. Only downside here was eBay seller had the image in a frame and I inquired to be sure page wasn't damaged and was assured it was professionally framed and that they didn't use adhesive. When the frame was opened to examine the page today it seems adhesive was used as the back of the page shows lots of yellow residue. That was a bit disappointing - but the rest of the page seems fine. Signed by Schaffenberger in middle of third panel in the image of the forest fire smoke. Social/Sharing |
