Description
“I’m getting older and…
… and he isn’t.
So, if I want to die happy, it’s time to get serious about killing Superman. Don’t you think?”

When I first got into the original art hobby my number one goal was to acquire a high quality example from All Star Superman. After a decade long search my quest has finally reached a happy ending.

Fun fact about the series: Frank Quitely originally designed a new, slightly tweaked S symbol for the Man of Steel that you can very clearly see on this original page. Editorial ultimately decided to go with the classic design, but I love that it’s preserved here in all it’s glory. I’ve included a picture that compares the two logos.

Many thanks to Cristian for helping me get this personal grail.

”There’s always a way.”

Outstanding!  One of my favorite comic runs of all time and this is a stellar example from it.  So so good.  I like that throwback "S", too.  Cool that it's there in the art!  Makes for a nice story vs. the published.  Congrats!

A masterpiece of storytelling!  It shows Superman as a kindly visitor from outer space willing to lend a helping hand to humanity's aspirations.

Wh- Whaa- WHAAAAT???!!

WOW what a pick-up. This is one of the most iconic Superman pages in my mind PERIOD.

Thanks for sharing the page on CAF with all of us. Now I get to notice elements of the art I may have previously taken for granted like the shading on Superman's face to reveal the lighting. All of the other linework is minimal, but then there's that shading. It centers the viewer. And even though my eye wants to move directly down to Luthor's, the shading on Kal's face beckons me to return to the heroic figure and remember, "There's always a way."

I love this Quitely page.  It shows the contrast between Superman and Lex.  The Superman figure is large and powerful, but his expression is gentle and kind.  While Lex's schemng eyes show his self-serving nature.

What a stunner. One of the most iconic pages from one of the most iconic stories, but two icons. Absolute homerun.
