DescriptionThis is the May. Day 01.So I have been sitting on this piece, actually quite a few pieces, since the beginning of the year. My wife purchased this page for me as a Valentine’s Day gift. By that point I had already set a goal to acquire enough Star Wars interior pages to post one each day in May this year. May 25th will be the 45th anniversary of the original movie. So here is day one, of hopefully, thirty-one days of Star Wars! Ania Solo and others are trapped in a sinking escape pod in the poisoned oceans of the planet Dac in the Calamari system. Ania's companions - the Mon Calamari engineer Sauk and the assassin droid AG-37 - dive in to use their freighter's grappling hook to try and grab the pod. Will our heroes survive!?! Here’s a hint, there is an issue 10! May the Force be with you! Social/Sharing |

This series falls under the radar, having essentially been cut before it could really hit its stride with the license transfer from Dark Horse to Marvel. And the coloring and printing process were not kind to Brian's amazing inking, which is stellar in person. This should have been done as a Star Wars black-and-white pulp!

I had been looking at this piece for a while thinking that I should pick it up and looking back at it I probably should have. I think this was the best page I remember seeing sold from this comic. Great pick up and slightly jealous lol.

My wife has great taste in in choice of spacefaring fishmen, no doubt.

A long long time ago
I can still remember how
That Star Wars used to make me smile
And I knew if I gave a chance
Dark Horse could make those comics dance
From the 90's on, happy for a while
But Lucas-Disney made me shiver
With every movie they delivered
Johnson on the doorstep
JJ takes one more step
I can't remember if I Thies
When I read about your Valentine
Star Wars trapped me deep inside
Mon Calamari pride

… And the Princess we admired most
Vader, Boba, and Wookiee hosts
By 2020 they all were ghosts
The day the Star Wars died…

This is really nice! Star Wars comics are typically drawn by artists with clean, precise styles, so seeing one finished with such heavy brush work is really great!

I am lucky enough to have four of Brian's pages from this series, and a few more on the way. As you say, so unique a style for the franchise across all the various publishers through the years.
