Description

According to legend--unless, of course, I've had too
little sleep and gotten it entirely wrong--Jim Lee wanted�
to update the Scooby Gang for a more mature audience. An�
audience that might welcome seeing their heroes in a darker,�
end of the world scenario. He turned to Keith Giffen to write�
it and, viola!, "Scooby Apocalypse" was born.
�
You ask me, Lee was a visionary. I only wish I could�
afford one of his Scooby covers.
�
The series ran for three years. During its 36 issues,�
Giffen was a mainstay, but the artists rotated. One of�
the recurring artists was the talented Dale Eaglesham.�
He was on hand when, in issue #17, Fred recounts his
first date with the much desired Daphne. Her response
to their coupling? "This was a TERRIBLE mistake!"�

It's said (legend again) that Warner Bros canceled the
series over concerns that DC Comics had re-imagined the
Scoobies and other Hanna-Barbera characters in too adult
of a fashion. No more grownup Flintstones, Snagglepuss,
or... Scooby Apocalypse.�

Like any good legend, you could believe those two are true! Love the stories, and these wonderful pencils.

This page is knocking scoobs. This is why corporate synergy is actually a good thing to keep this from happening. Now all the David and Maddie magic is gone.

To me, Fred and Daphne... the ultimate friend-zone !!! But Dave and Maddie... I still watch that show. Classic.
