DescriptionPublished 1996Part of the 1996 themed Annuals - Legends of Dead Earth. Stranded in the 20th century, XS attempts to get back to the 30th Century but instead lands in the near 30th century, the 100th century and finally at the end of time itself. Here she meets the Time Trapper who has engineered her voyages through time for his own Machiavellian purposes. This is the first page of their meeting and interactions in the story. I have included the last panel of the story in the auxiliary images. The Time Trapper has always been my favorite Legion Villain. His motives, powers and origins are shrouded in mystery. He is said to rule the wasteland of Earth in the far future and one theory is that his attacks on the Legion are to prevent them from changing the future that he rules. Brainiac 5 has theorized that the Time Trapper is actually a "sentient alternate timeline" rebelling against ours. The Time Trapper was created by Edmond Hamilton and John Forte, first appearing in Adventure Comics #317. (1964) This was a recent pick up. I went to the local Galaxy Con and Dan Jurgens was one of the guests and this was the only Legion page in his portfolio. He had held on to it until now and decided to bring to the convention to sell. The Jurgens and Boyd combination made me think this was actually a Bill Willingham page. Pretty neat. I love that Dr Fate also appears. It's amazing, Jurgens only brings a single Legion page to a convention and somehow it still manages to make its way into YOUR collection, Miki. You're just an absolute Legion magnet!

Terrific page. I love his story telling here and, of course, it is very well drawn.
