Cooooool! Great addition! Congrats.
I'm no artist, but if I were, I think Brother Voodoo would be a blast to draw. I love this character and, to be honest, am quite surprised that he's not the subject of more commissions. I think he's a great visual character. This piece is just sick! Not sure if Kyle could have fit anything else in this image. Love all the black, love all the melting candles and the voodoo doll at the bottom. The figure and the costume are just spectacular, but all the other elements are equally mind blowing. One of my favorite posts on CAF so far this year. Big time congrats Kahlil.
I hear you, Eric. Very unique in terms of the look and the nature of the character, which definitely makes for a nice commission subject, particularly when in the right hands. Witness exhibit A :) Thanks, man, and all, for the comments! Always appreciated!
Beautiful rendition of brother voodoo
Kyle's commissions are always awesome - amazing bang for yer buck every damn time! Wow, love the artistic voodoo that Kyle threw down on this piece of paper. Congrats KG -thanks for sharing!
So much on a single page. Killer piece.
Oh ho, baby! I once had an old friend named Jim who played a mean guitar. He passed away a long time ago, but when I look at this beauty, I can still hear that sweet guitar sing!
I didn't mean to take up all your sweet time
I'll give it right back to ya one of this days
Ha-ha-ha
I said, I didn't mean to take up all your sweet time
I'll give it right back one of these days
Oh, yeah
If I don't meet you no more in this world
Then I, I'll meet ya on the next one
And don't be late
Don't be late
'Cause I'm a Brother Voodoo child, Brother Voodoo child
Lord knows I'm a Brother Voodoo child
Hey-hey-hey
Nailed it!
Oh, yeah! I remember that guy, Ruben! He was actually an accomplished cook, too, and was known for whipping up a mean pot of Voodoo Chile!
Breathtaking piece here, K. Brother Voodoo is one of my favorite character designs ever, and when they then added the Cloak of Levitation to the mix (during his FAR too short tenure as Earht's Sorcerer Supreme)...? Even BETTER. Love the fact that Mr. Hotz folded that in here. Love how "big and bold" this is in that 70's "everything flying off the page at you" style, but the snakes in particular are wicked awesome. They'd be right at home on a Molly Hatchet record or something. Incredible inking on this fantasic piece. Epic add, K! ('Epicurean', even, in the case of the chili! :) ). Great score - congrats!
The meanest of mean guitars! Apt lyrics, man, APT :) Thanks, Ruben!
Thanks, Jason! We're kindreds in terms of loving his design, and I KNOW you dig the cloak add - all too short but was fun seeing in Bendis's Avengers run. One of your fave arcs, I know :) Now that you mention it, I agree there is an in-your-face '70s vibe, but with Hotz's contemporary stylized spin! Best of both worlds!
Oh man, I just recently read the Brother Voodoo Marvel Masterworks, so he is fresh on my mind and Kyle did an amazing job here! Love how creepy it is!
Superb crafted piece, especially for a commission in his classic Kelley-Jones-mixed-with-Wrightson-style ! Striking piece of this highly useless character (in my humble opinion), must be a creepy hammer in person :)
Kyle is amazing!!!!!! This is sick.
What an outstanding job! Congrats!!!
A lot of love went into this piece, with no detail spared anywhere. Great commission!
This is an awesome piece, K! The visuals are extraordinary!
Super cool rendition from Hotz!
Huge Admirer of Hotz. Just a super talented artist. Great subject matter for him here. Love everything about this one. Congrats!
Superb!
Voooood
Doooooo
When the art's in the crib ma
Post it like it's Hotz
Draw it like it's Hotz
Ink it like it's Hotz
When the mystic arts get at you
Potions like it's Hotz
Conjour like it's Hotz
Candles like it's Hotz
And if a Brother brings the attitude
Poses 'cuz it's Hotz
Darkness 'cuz it's Hotz
Mystic 'cuz it's Hotz
I got the cobras on my arm and the winning's forgone
And I roll the best spells 'cause I got it going on
Lol! I appreciate that link on the very end of your comment/lyrics, Marcus, but TRUST, it was not needed :) Loving the Jericho spin on a Snoop classic, man. Thank ya!
Energetic and spooky Brother Voodoo commission from Hotz, I don't see much from this character but happy to see this representation.
Hotz has always been good but he's been on fire for several years now. This one is fantastic.
Hotz clearly firing on all eight cylinders here. WOW!
And this pickup is so good, I had to post twice. Kyle Hotz absolutely crushed it with this one. Congrats on this awesome pickup!
So much detail and stark contrast on this, tie that together with the storytelling in this - total knockout!
Yep, he killed it dead. Brother Voodoo approves. Wow, this is stunning. He used lots of great tricks, too. Is that smudged white-out for the candle haze? Super clever. And that composition is perfect. Man, he goes on the list. This commission is fantastic, Kahlil. Congrats!
Ridiculous. I have nothing else to say. Just...ridiculous...ly AWESOME.
Absolutely awesome commish! I'm feeling Buscema & Nebres vibes from the piece. Superb!
This is just awesome. I've tried twice now to get on Kyle's list, his work is just so impressive, but each time I've been just a few minutes too late - maybe the third time will be the charm when he opens up again. Great choice of character for him!
Agh! Thanks, Nathan, and sorry you've missed out a couple times. Stay diligent - you never know! "Third time's a charm" is an expression that exists for a reason I assume :) Easier said than done, I know - can't keep your eyes peeled on Instagram ALL the time! Crossing my fingers for you, man!
WOW!!! This is fantastic. A perfect pairing of Artist and Character. Great addition my friend.
Great Hotz piece. Congrats!
Very very hauntingly cool!
Oh my stars and planets, yes, Kyle Hotz straight up killed this one. It is pure awesomeness from top to bottom (especially the bottom, where he did such wonderful things with the candlelight and the plethora of rune symbols). Those snakes are so cool too. Everything is perfect on this one. Wow wow wow !!!
What a brilliant marriage of artist and subject! This piece is so evocative and moody. Just stunning. Congratulations!
This is absolutely incredible.
Amazing quality cover comission of this fierce character! I love it! I love the Brother Vodoo appearances on Tomb of Dracula. Hotz captured and darked the essence of him. Huge congrats!
Hotz may be the best horror comic book artist working today. And if Marvel were smart, they should make an MCU horror movie starring Brother Voodoo.
We may see him in the next Doc Strange flick - there's some speculation. I mean, if there was an in to get him on screen, that's it, I'd think. There was a a deleted scene from the first Doc Strange flick, with his brother Daniel, referred to as "Master Drumm". So we'll see! Thanks for the add, Michael!
This is a Fantastic commission!!! Excellent choice going with Brother Voodoo!
Stunning commission! Wonderful composition and especially impresive inks on this, congrats!.
Perfect combination of artist and character here! Brother Voodoo never looked so dark and menacing! The EC horror style candles, the fanged snakes, the magically swirling cape, .... Perfect!
Incredible! I could elaborate but this one really speaks for itself. Congrats!
Absolutely brilliant ! All the other comments are a real tribute to this piece
It's insane just how great Kyle is and how consistently great he's been over the years. I'm a long-time fan since his Evil Ernie days and this last round of commissions are simply mind blowing. Huge congrats on this one, you chose a perfect character for him to go nuts with.
Let me know when you want to trade collections.
this is just jaw dropping amazing. Kyle illustrates nightmare fuel on a tier that is near 2nd to none but there is a hypnotizing factor with this piece that carries my eye in a circular pattern, never giving up. this is truly beautiful. congrats
