Description
For those of you scoring at home, (and even if you're all by yourself) I started a collecting goal to acquire an interior page from each artist to work on Brian Michael Bendis' New Avengers. I expanded the goal not long ago to include the interior artists from Bendis' concurrent Avengers series and Dark Avengers. I was browsing the Renato Guedes gallery at comiconart.com and found this awesome page, but it was labeled as/categorized along with his pages from Secret Avengers. I took a closer look and saw that Renato had written Avengers at the top, and I remembered this scene. It takes place in Simonson Industrial Park, a former front of A.I.M. (Bendis with the classic comics shoutout to Walt Simonson's stint writing issues 291-299, then writing and drawing issue 300 of Avengers vol. 1), where an unknown party has taken control of Iron Man's armor and "aim-ed" it at Noh-Varr the Protector. Protector attached one of his own Kree gadgets to shut down Tony's armor, but too late to dodge a chest repulsor. Here Iron Man removes the Kree gadget and gathers the unconscious Protector to regroup. I love the fact that another Bendis Avengers page was akin to buried treasure due to its mislabeling, and I found it! Also, I love that this page features Iron Man in his moment of bittersweet defeat, and Noh-Varr in unconscious victory. Thanks, Court!

It helps to be knowledgeable about the comics for the art you collect. Congrats.

Harry, SHH!! You'll wake the collectors who don't read comics!
Thanks so much for the kind words!

Love that pop-up shot in the first panel :)  And some nice storytelling in 2 panels after, THEN then the money shot!  Really dig these kind of pages that got it all that way!  Another checked off the Bendis run.  Congrats on finding this buried treasure!

Great half splash with the streaking right panel to exit the page!  For a long time, the Bendis writing was the consistent voice of the title.

Thanks, Marcus! According to Bendis in Avengers 34, he wrote 232 published Avengers comics between 2004-2012!

YEAH, MAN!!  Anymore it seems like you really do have to dig for the treasure; to put in the work and rely on even more than luck to come away with the gold.  You hit paydirt here, Doc!  Congrats on knowing your target and executing your acquisition so flawlessly; anytime you get to cross another name off your Bendis Avengers list, it does my heart very good indeed.

You had remarked to me (and I completely agree) thar Renato's art was just about to make an explosive leap in quality after this, but there's still plenty of great stuff on display here.  And judging from the last few FANTASTIC adds to your gallery - and who knows what other goodness might be just around the corner? ;) - I'm utterly convinced that you have a secret Kree device of your own to help you locate these beauties.  Terrific grab, Doc!  My most sincere congratulations!
