Description
Good afternoon, Champions. The inking stage is finally complete. This preliminary will also be offered in print at con events in the future. After purchasing "The Art of The Batman", which was essential in getting those important details of the armor right, it was a natural progression. With assorted LePen Drawing Pens, I provided as much textural detail to the intricacies of the detachable symbol/knife, gauntlets, boots, and a very complex utility belt. I know one of the pouches has minimal detail, but that's because I wanted to get across how the spotlight caught it at the right angle where such an effect would take place. For the rain effect on multiple surfaces, I used my trusty GellyRoll 10 liquid gel pen and Pentel white out in certain spots. I used the GellyRoll for the streaks of rain against the black and LePen Drawing 005 for the visible areas of the alley. I wanted to ensure the sketch had room to breathe. Besides the droplets are visible on the ground via GellyRoll marks, which served to create a foreground and thus making Batman in the middleground. I signed it early because, again, I want to offer an inks-only print in my inventory. And finally, as you notice, I wrote "After Mazzuchelli" under my trademark stamp, paying tribute to the legendary David Mazzuchelli's original layout from "Batman: Year One." More definitely as it develops.
