DescriptionFor my last "Title Splash Week" piece, I'm going more modern again. Though, wow, already 14 years old. And I thought I'd finish with what I'm going to call a double page splash with two bonus panels. And I just had to include a piece by one of my very favorite artists, Mark Bagley!Here we have the three DC powerhouses facing off against three baddies in a super cool M.C. Escher-like setting. Battles are hard enough without knowing where the heck to throw your punch! Up? Down? Sideways? And let's give it up for Mark Bagley, right? I mean, not only does he draw 111 issues of Ultimate Spider-Man from 2000-2007, but then he almost immediately takes on 52 issues of Trinity, drawing one issue a week from June 2008 to May 2009. The guy is a workhorse, and the quality never wavers. Love the inks by Art Thibert too. Thank you for joining me for Title Splash Week! Social/Sharing |

I love the manipulated staircase look. I would totally go for something like this myself. Excellet piece.

I always dig Escher-like "Which way is up?" comic art pieces, they're so cool! I echo your sentiments on Bagley as well. The guy has just been THE consumate pro throughout his career. Workhorse doesn't even completely describe his output. A fun piece, Paul. Thanks as always for sharing your great collection with everyone!

Bagley's art for this series is different for Busiek scripts compared to his Bendis run on Ultimate Spider-Man as we see more of these large image double pagers where there's more than talking heads. More thought and design in the artwork for this extravaganza!

I thought of the '80s flick, Labyrinth, as soon as I saw this :) And that's a good thing. LOVE the disorienting nature of the background - you can have a lot of fun poring over it! And you got DC's heaviest hitters, the Trinity, featured. Bagley is definitely a beast. Workmanlike enthusiasm that guy's got, no doubt! Congrats!
