Actually, His Name Is… Gil Kane!

Start with being a fan of Kane's brutal super-spy and enforcer, then have Howard Chaykin knock out a cover and I'm sold! I haven't heard Chaykin speak of this one, so I'm totally guessing he did this as a tribute and homage to his old mentor and friend. PS too bad the colorist didn't know Savage's hair is white, pfft...

The original looks in the modern fully accomplished storyteller Chaykin style! It gets the point across with that no nonsense Savage! Kane saw what was popular at the time when he created the character and Chaykin taps into that same gritty desperation with the dynamic poses and brushwork.
