Description

Another benefit to complete issues and overlays is that they REALLY make you get into the nitty gritty of the art. If you take a look at the preceding page, and the final panel, there's a fantastic, logical connection through the smoke from one page to the next.

The overlay here is really helpful in completing the image. My mind keeps wanting to read the image as 2011, for obvious reasons.

I had to rearrange the elements from the published page - one of the few times I've had to to do that. Otherwise Wes inks an almost complete page, and does very little digital manipulation after inking.

Having this DPS is also an interesting look into Wes' design process. The double page title pages have become famous as markers of time throughout this series, and I like to see how he works it out, and what he chooses to ink. The aesthetic also works very nicely with Loughridge's coloring and palette.
