DescriptionMy Spider-Verse Theme Week continues with this superior cover by the great Ryan Stegman. After all, what is a Spider-Verse without its Goblins? And this is the only published cover I know of that features a battle between the Green Goblin and the Hobgoblin. And if there is another one, I doubt it's this dynamic. And Spidey is there too! Well, the patterns of light and shadow behind the two figures makes up Spidey's face mask -- complete with webbing. Isn't that cool??? It's a Goblin Battle Royale! Thanks for looking, and stay tuned for more fun Spidey stuff this week. Social/Sharing |

Some collectors are talking around the water cooler...saying things like, Stegman is a great artist and anyone should be ecstatic to have one of his Spider-man covers in their collection. However, apparently it's big stigma to have Spider-man and any form of Goblin on the cover. Sorry, Paul. Go ahead and give it to me, and I'll remove the curse. No charge! Friends before Curses. I got you.

Hate to be the one to state the obvious, but what could possibly be better than a Goblin cover? Well, TWO Goblins, of course. And before you ask, while I have lots of love for Hobby, the OG Goblin is of course my fave. Love the Spidey mask. Makes a great backdrop for the piece.

Terrible color choice as usual, which is why original art kicks ass! A superb, energetic and explosive cover featuring two of Spidey's greatest foes in a cataclysmic battle royale brought forth by the fabulous Spidey symbol backdrop. EXCELSIOR!

Goblin are Goblin, so why should it be
Norm and I should get along so awfully
Goblins, HobGoblin, so why should Spidey
Norm and I should get along so awfully
So we're different colours and we're signed by Stan Lee
And different people have Stegman Spideys
It's obvious you’re Kingsley ‘cause he’s the Hobgoblon
I've never even met you, look what could I have found
I can't understand
What makes Goblin
Hate another man
Help me Green Goblin

If I were the Green Goblin, I would have taken the Hobgoblin to court long before now for various trademark and patent infringements, but that's assuming the Green Goblin was smart enough to make the appropriate Patent and Trademark Office filings. Oh well, the lack of intellectual property protections leads instead to this awesome cover!

That's funny. Osborne could have afforded Murdock to represent him while Hobby got stuck with Walters...

Two Goblins and enough ink to choke a donkey. Sweet! Stegman really went all out on the detail here. It's almost Art Adamsesque. Excellent cover. Congrats!

Tough to beat Goblin vs Goblin images, let alone when rendered by my main main Mr Stegman! Killer looking Hobby here particularly, with that expression and the light source coming from the right. Great background, too, as we know, Spidey's always around :) Congrats, man!
