DescriptionBeautiful Batman pin-up by Dan Adkins. This piece was done in 1999 and is a re-creation of a portion of the title page splash from Detective Comics #487 which was dated January of 1979. Don Newton was the original penciler of that splash and Dan Adkins was the inker. Dan re-created the work 20 years later after Newton had passed away and wrote a fairly detailed note of provenance on the back of the art. I owned this piece a decade or so ago and sold it to a friend back in 2015 when I joined CAF and started posting my collection online. He had it professionally framed and up on his wall for several years. I recently saw it posted for sale and bought it back and it came back to me with a professional frame job. 😀 I think I'll hang it up this time 😉 Thanks Bob! Social/Sharing |

You should sell it to him again. When you buy back in five years it may have strobe lights installed and confetti cannons.

Ha! That's actually not a bad idea! Dude definitely took good care of it and also took good care of me in our recent deal.

Classic Batman! Dan Adkins really nailed the look for Don Newton's Batman in this piece! Really neat!

It all came so easy
Adkins, Newton you gave me
With Bob, Daryl shared
And I still can remember
How the inks were so tender
Bob told me he cared
We had a once in a lifetime
Bob I just couldn't see
Until' frame was on
A second once in a lifetime
May be too much to ask
But I still brought it on
If Adkins Bats in my arms again
This time I'll love you much better
If Newton Bats in my arms again
This time it's Batman Forever
Buy and sell never ends

Love the "simplicity" here with the clean lines and stark block blacks. Congrats!
