The Batman

Matt Reeves's "The Batman" left such a huge impression on me that I had to try my hand at both capturing Robert Pattinson's look on paper. Further, I wanted to do it in a way that captured both the essence of the film and classic Batman. To that end, I chose an interior page in Frank Miller's Batman: Year One by David Mazuchelli, whom I acknowledged under my signature stamp. The composition is similar - Batman partially caught by a flash light or spot light and a gangster opening fire - but I went further. To put it in the same space as the film, I incorporated rain, some key phrases via graffiti, and even a trademark Riddler question mark on the trash can. Lastly, I took the essence of the movie posters and used a red palette for everything. Etched on 11 x 14" with mixed media, this is my finest Batman piece to date and the experimental approach thankfully paid off.
