DescriptionWhen my child was six years old and trying to draw horses more realistically than My Little Pony, I pulled out my DKR book to this splash page and said “Try this on!”. The audible gasp was profound. So, I love this page because of that. Anyone reading this knows why it’s a great example of Frank and Klaus’ masterpiece, and Lynn’s impactful painting brings it to life with a richness of tone from hues that provide depth...but that’s why I love it.Thanks J for letting it come to a forever home. Happy to pair it framed with the color plate (not a guide!!!!) to page 22 from the same issue. Social/Sharing |

Absolutely stunning. The history of the horse in art as a form is the most ancient expression there is. Growing up in a culture where depictions of the human form are not particularly encouraged, I was exposed to many, many horses. Done right - the raw power, majesty, and essential-relationship to us conveyed on a primal level - the image hits us hard. This effort here by the team of Miller/Varney is a proud part of that heritage. Congrats!

Much more than a color guide. Fantastic published, hand colored work.

Thanks for posting without the overlay, to really show off Varley's work.

Any page from the epic DKR story is a piece of art history ... and this is not just "any" page - one of the better examples. I am sure it will be chrished in your wonderful collection. Congrats and thanks so much for sharing!
