Description

Grand Central is, as should become clear, a point from which to travel to (and from) alternate worlds. Most of the characters seen here are either from alternate worlds or are somehow capable of traveling to them. This fun splash page is filled with gags and inside jokes and characters from alternate universes in all kinds of media.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There's Mirror Master watching the crew members from Star Trek: Mirror Universe walk by, and Nightmare walking together with Dream. On the wall of the top left looks to be drawings of the Starship Enterprise. Sabretooth and Wild Child from Age of Apocalypse walking with Rogue, with Loki behind them. On the left a poster for Terminator 2 Bank, advertising for time travel, next to a poster of an alternate Alfred E Newman, and above it all, a poster to party in DC's Infinite Earth timelines. Earth 3’s Crime Syndicate members, flying above left, and two alt Captain Britains. The notes on the sides of the page are great too.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Other description:
Upper left: Superwoman, Power Ring, Alexi Luthor (not Per Degaton, as I originally thought), and Ultraman. All are DC villains. Superwoman, Power Ring, and Ultraman are members of the Crime Syndicate, a group of supervillains from Earth-3. "The insignias on the chests of the villains at upper left spell out 'SOD U.' Alan Moore's feelings toward DC?" Upper right: The falling duck is indeed Howard the Duck.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Upper middle: "Vacation on Infinite Earths" is a reference to the DC miniseries Crisis on Infinite Earths, which revised DC's somewhat tangled continuity and removed all of the company's alternate Earths from its diegetical history. The figures on the poster played roles in the Crisis; they are, front to back, Pariah (a sort of harbinger of doom), unknown (Ronald Byrd thinks it's a miscolored Superman), Firestorm (an element-changing hero), Dawnstar (member of the Legion of Super-Heroes), the Blue Beetle, Cyborg (Spider and Ronald Byrd identified him), and I can't tell the last character on the poster. (Nathan Alderman thinks it might be Jericho, of the Teen Titans.)
--------------------------------------
Middle: As mentioned above, in the DC cosmology each alternate Earth has its own numerical designation. In the Marvel cosmology each alternate Earth has its own letter designation.
Below the directional sign are four of the robots from the 1927 classic Metropolis. -----------------------------------I'm going to start here and work in a clockwise direction around the panel::: Bottom left. "Hiroshiman and U.S.S.R. respectively. They are part of the Tomorrow Gang from Moore's 1963 #6." King Peacock. Walking up the stairs are two Captain Britains seen are Captain England and Captain Albion.
At the bottom of the stairs, to the right, is DC's villain the Mirror Master.
Rogue, Sabretooth, and Wildchild. All three are Marvel characters, but the three seen here are from Marvel's "Age of Apocalypse" storyline. I don't know who the figures directly behind Wildchild and farther behind and to the left are.
The figure walking to the left is the Marvel supervillain Loki; I don't know who the two figures to the right of Loki are.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Bottom Right. To the right of the Information booth, I don't know who the tall man with his back to us is, and the knight and squire are possibly Comte Godefroy de Montmirailt and his squire Jacquouille, from the French movie, The Visitors. Behind and to the right of the knight is Amazo, the DC android villain with all the powers of the Justice League of America. Walking toward us are Uhura, Kirk, and Spock from Star Trek; more specifically, these are the Uhura, Kirk, and Spock from the alternate world of the episode, "Mirror, Mirror." The odd-looking pair with their back to us are Nightmare, from Marvel, and Morpheus, from DC. Both are lords of dreams, after a fashion, so it makes a certain amount of sense for them to be together. In the lower right of the panel is Lola, still running, from the film Run, Lola, Run. The pair in the foreground of the panel Mr. Mxyzptlk and Bat-Mite.
-----------------------------------More: Grand Central has an advertisement for “Vacation on Infinite Earths!” Pariah leads Firestorm and other heroes in a conga line. It’s a crowded scene full of characters. Directional signs for dimension travelers show them how to get to “Earths 1-10,” “Earths A-G,” etc.

I'm going to guess Alan Moore's script is as extensive as the description!  Incredible that Gene Ha was able to carry this out on one single page!!!

I admit, I was gushing with fanboy enthusiasm when I wrote this (CAF longest?) description.  Finally feel that my Top 10 collection is where I wanted it to be.

They did mess up in the final published page with the two doors on the right side leaving the notes about the Greek lettering on them.  (Chi and rho).

Easily the best splash in the series indeed, it epitomizes what is fun about Top 10!
