DescriptionI am a real sentimentalist at heart when it comes to origin recap pages (and all the more so when it relates to Spidey). This one, a fantastic DPS by Ramón Pérez, is truly (pun intended) amazing! The recap itself is paradoxically very busy whilst not confusing or putting off the reader at the same time. And it is especially meaningful for those of us who already know the story in Amazing Fantasy #15 by heart, so to speak. It is also signed by Stan Lee. Many thanks to Dino for this incredible piece of artwork.Social/Sharing |

I know it is the wrong character, but I can't help but hear The Lonely Man closing theme from the Hulk tv series when looking at this DPS. It has all the feels, and that long shadow in the first panel stages the mood from the start.

Dear Jeff, that was a lovely yet haunting theme. Bill Bixby left us far too early.

Somewhere in this, we must get the "...Great Responsibilty" line. The long shadow in the first panel is just as effective as any of those classic Ditko artistic devices.

Many thanks, Marcus! Yes, the line is in the very last panel.

Aren't we ALL sentimentalists for "origin retold" pages? I know I've certainly always been one. The long shadow Spidey casts in the first panel extends the feelings of sadness and remorse he feels over his Uncle Ben's death, while the rest of the DPS beautifully encapsulates the rest of the origin sequence. Wonderful pieces such as this serve to remind us that with great artwork, there must also come great curatorship, and you are, hands down, one of the best curators in the hobby!

Dear Rubén, thanks so much for a better description than I could muster. Thanks also for the very kind words which I don't really deserve, although I will say that my passion for the hobby is a simple and direct one - a tad idealistic some might say but it is what it is.
