Description

This strip continues where 264.4 left off. While Yale released this one online as 265.1, you can see he originally marked it as 264.5 in the margin.

After pulling Diana aside to chat, Clark comes back to talk with J'onn and we get to see more of Yale Stewart's storytelling chops on display.

I love the three silent beats to start the strip. First Yale gives us the long shot to set the stage. We see everybody's body posture and placement in the scene as Clark literally crosses a line from the blacktop to the grass in front of J'onn, which is a wonderful touch.

Then we get the quick one-two punch of panels that emphasize Clark's choice to take a knee. Rather than talk down to him (literally), he meets J'onn eye to eye before shifting camera angles to show the most friendly smile J'onn could hope to see in this situation.

With the stage setting out of the way, Yale then transitions to the overhead shot to start the bottom tier of panels, reacquainting us with everyone's position before shifting to POV shots in the last three that bring added weight to what Clark is saying.

Inspired storytelling at every turn, IMHO.
