Description

This is still a milestone comic from the early 80's. Howard was at his peak creatively and pushed so many boundaries with this book. It is hugely influential and at the time controversial. Even looking back today, the content and art is still amazing. Here is a really nice page from issue #3 where Howard had already found his groove. It featured Reuben, Raul (the cat) and a Chaykin girl. Not a racy page but good content from an early issue. the last panel is a stat.

Nice early page with really strong content! By the way, I think in this series the names was spelled with two Es, like Reuben Flagg.

Nice duo tone! It shows Chaykin was using old school methods to make them new in comics. Now he goes the other way and pieces drawings together to craft a page. Reubergers DaFlagg (5 yard penalty for spelling) is one of my favorite characters in all the hobby.

Chaykin's masterpiece. The influence of this series on later comics can't be overstated.
