Description

One of DWJ's postcard con sketches, in pencil, ink & whiteout. We've all seen Dan's dynamic compositions, but one thing that sometimes gets lost in the conversation is his attention to the little details that make the big ones sing. What struck me in this case is the way the cloth of the cape bunches up around the skull pin � a feature that would be so easy to skip over in a "quickie" like this.

And he did the whole thing while eating lunch, peanut butter sandwich in one hand!

Yes, he left all the sketchy lines under the inks for the cloak to give the thing more wrinkly depth. Pulled off perfectly!
