Description
A beautiful sketch by Mr. Russell included with the Salome and Other Stories Fine Art Sketch Edition. This is one of 45 pieces he did for this special series of books. I just love the sexy simplicity of his line, every mark is perfection even on a little piece like this.

As usual, many thanks to Wayne for the opportunity.

The artist obviously has an affinity for the subject and genre.  I always enjoy the work he puts into the gowns and robes of these types of pieces.  The figure and pose are  just lovely.

The Fine Art Editions have me just poring over his line and wondering how the hell anyone can be so precise and whimsical at the same time. They're worth studying for sure.

Lovely and elegant with Russell's linework delicately dancing between the raindrops remaining on purpose and target to create a sense of fantasy and wonder.

Do you ever get the sense if Dr. Seuss drew comics it would look a lot like Russell's work? Or just me? :D
