Filmation - The Archies: Hot Dog 1

As a 10-year old in 1968, I wanted to have a cool musical group like my older sister . But I didn't have the same access or taste. So the ARCHIES were a sweet spot for me because I got a cartoon, some music that was occasionally played on the radio, and a set of dance moves I could pretend to learn. It really isn't a bad formula and I'm surprised someone doesn't try it again. And it was a good crossover because I had read the ARCHIE comics and here they were on the TV. I don't remember laughing or being overly hooked on this show, but it WAS in my television playlist most Saturday mornings.

Based on the Archie comic books, created by Bob Montana in 1941, The Archie Show debuted on CBS in September 1968 and lasted for one season. A total of 17 half-hour shows, each containing two 11 minute segments, were aired. Archie cartoons continued to be aired in various forms until 1978.
