DescriptionRubén recently had an art drop featuring the finale to the storyline in the most recent Swamp Thing series. What was even more exciting was the subsequent session with Mike Perkins himself, where he answered numerous questions and furnished the audience with as many insights. Above all, he is such a nice man and so humble, given his amazing talents. The show can be watched at:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRvNkPADYZs Rubén had a subsequent show the same day which was a 20 year retrospective of Mike's art and can be watched at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEkyYrTUVOo I was really inspired by the shows and felt moved to post this double page spread in tribute to Mike's artwork. He is a superb artist with a distinctive style and I have many pages by him from other series as well which I hope to post in the near future (especially from the Iron Fist series which I greatly enjoyed). Just one look at this DPS will reveal how very talented Mike is. I look forward very much to his next work. Social/Sharing |

Thank you, sir, I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself. I really had a strong feeling that it would be a fun event and with the aid of Mike and his very affable personality, it really did end up being a very fun time. Lots of jokes and kidding around between all of us is truly what made it so enjoyable.
This double page spread, what can I say? I was so intrigued by Swamp Thing gaining the Green Lantern's power for a brief time and really love how Mike chose to make it seem as if wielding the power also changed Swamp Thing's physical appearance. The manner in which he towered over all the giant industrial buildings as he's doing here, just enlarges the scope of his own abilities. But I can't end this comment without also mentioning that I absolutely adore how Mike interpreted all the parts of the "oil refinery" in this splash. So fantastic and the camera at worm's eye view puts us right there in the action!

Dear Rubén, many thanks once again for making it all happen. I think many of us do not realize just how much time and effort goes into each show. More than that, your passion for the hobby shines forth in each and every show and that has a cascading effect to all of us who are either direct participants or (as myself) participants in the live chat. Not once did any of us talk about prices and such mundane and materialistic considerations that has (unfortunately) come to "infect" the hobby that we all love. Many thanks once again, and do take care.

Great looking piece. I collected the whole comic run and will have to look for this piece when I get the chance to read it.

Can't beat the combined powers of the Green and the Green Lanterns! Classic Kaiju action by Perkins who did his homework in this genre using special effects as the lumbering giant attacks.

As usual, you are spot on, Marcus! A unique and pleasing blend of both East and West.

Mindblowing Swamp Thing DPS! Mike Perkins really outdid himself here. Phenomenal scene with the intricate rendered factory and the giant Swamp Thing image looming over the entire scene! Great pick-up!

That is a fabulous example from this superb series! What a wonderful art drop, too. Wish this series would go on for another dozen issues

Yes, I totally agree. And as someone said during the show, this marks a defining moment in Mike's career. I am sure that he will go on even greater heights, given his talent and his diligence.

The best oil refinery ever rendered in the art form - and Swamp Thing also!

Thanks so much, Mark! Yes, the oil refinery looks so realistic that Mike must have some form of photo reference to help him.
