Description“LAST LOOKS” - FILM TRADES ATTACK TO SAVE THE DAY!Poor Eric Beale he is just looking to take his revenge on the glamorous Dazzler (Alison Blaire), but the on-set film trade creative groups all get there quick hands on him and prevent him from his assault. This glorious page exemplifies typical daily life on set. So many quick hands all working in tandem to change, alter, correct performers in unison. The only thing missing is the 1st AD screaming “LAST LOOKS”. The timing from props to wardrobe to action unit is beautifully expressed with some key panels. The flow feels ”reel” and is a light-hearted piece in a rather sad/dramatic/controversial issue. The comedy relief and timing of action unit rolling then “POW” punch, cut to Dazzler getting surrounded by the studio personas and having their notes come to life in the next set of panels. Everyone has an opinion and certain voices tend to be louder than others. There is a hierarchy on set and this page really captures it all well. In the last few panels we get the comedic black eye from the punch revealed on Eric and Dazzler being reminded not to worry, that the “studio knows best”. My brother is a make-up artist and I can definitely hear his voice on this page, this page is dedicated to him and all my film families. This page comes toward the end of Silvestri’s iconic run on Uncanny X-Men, #218 - 261 (most of the issues in between). It is one of my favorite X-Men eras (competing with Kubert’s run on X-Men), for characters, storylines and designs. Silvestri, Green and Claremont team-up so well to create such amazing life on a page. These pages have light, sound, moving imagery in my head; my senses come alive and fill in the gaps for the pieces in between. It’s at times like watching a movie and I forget that I am reading panel to panel, page to page. Social/Sharing |

Naming this story Star 90 is pretty gutsy by Claremont as the movie Star 80 was pretty dark, and only adult audiences would have gotten the reference. Nice Silvestri work on a 9 panel page showing off a more animated storyflow of action and reaction.

Silvestri and Green really were a killer combo on UXM. Love the linework in this example, too. A Leonardi vibe, too, which is a GOOD thing. Fun page no doubt and right up your alley, man. Congrats!
