Description

Super early appearance of Jason Todd. I love the way this page shows veteran Robin Dick Grayson as a brave and fearless daredevil and also shows a very young version of future Robin Jason Todd as a scared little boy. A nice contrast of one Robin who has long been comfortable in his role and is ready to progress, go to college, and find a new identity vs. a future Robin who seems helpless and is nowhere near ready to assume such a role.

And in answer to the question, "Are my mom and dad gonna be okay?" ... No Jason. They're not. Your parents die in this issue.

Slick ridin', kid. Love the mood, vibe, and atmosphere of these panels. Gotta love these super early Jason Todd appearance as well. And who knew Waldo the clown would be so nice? Another classic Newton page, major congratulations!

Newton adds a lot of heart into this page as circus folk are family and Alcala makes every panel a masterwork by elevating the illustrative qualities to affect mood. He makes the look his own.
