The spot inks and choices made add lots of depth and atmosphere in that first panel. The big action panel shows more of Rodriguez's skills to bring big impact.
Great observations! I love that 3rd panel and all the ways Rodriguez conveys movement/action: The windows flying open; the shattered glass scattering; the one Serpent's helmet flying off & hair straightening; the other Serpent's head being turned & spittle flying as he's smacked by DD's billy club -- it's all so dynamic!!
