DescriptionTERRA-Novel #1 (Original Cover Art) - Johnny Bruck (* March 22, 1921; † October 6, 1995).»Nichts rettet die Erde mehr« (Nothing Saves Earth Anymore) was the first episode of TERRA published on June 7, 1957. 'TERRA UTOPISCHE ROMANE' was a German Science Fiction pulp series published from 1957 to 1968 in 555 episodes by the publishing house Moewig in Munich, and launched in competition to the 'UTOPIA' series. TERRA became one of the most popular SF series in Germany in 1950-70 next to UTOPIA and PERRY RHODAN. Original cover art from the first episodes of TERRA from 1957 are extremely rare finds. I bought this piece from a collector in Austria. It had a tear and visible scratches on the upper side and I had it restored by the German PERRY RHODAN illustrator Arndt Drechsler-Zakrzewski in Leipzig, Germany. Signed by the artist middle right with 'WILLIS'. Johnny Bruck used several signatures including Bruck, Willis, Plaster, or Crash. 'WILLIS' he used for his personal favorites. This work is the first documented piece with a 'WILLIS' signature by Johnny Bruck. Gouache on board. Professionally framed for exhibitions in light oak frame and UV protection museum glass. 1957, at the bring of the space age, but still indepted to WWII and spy novels which dominated the popular media at that time. I like the clear scenic compositon. Every scene is clearly divided from the other and beautifully composed. It is colorful with the three orange spots which seem to emenate light, one from the depth of the probe, the other from the nuclear reaction and the third, and for the third one we do not see yet the source. That makes us to be drawn into the novel to explore the depth and the source of the light.
