Actually, look carefully in his first word balloon. He says "...they have hounded me.". He's actually only referring to the Legionnaires, but breaking the 4th wall and speaking to the readers, which is really cool!

fantastic page each panel flashback tells the past as the figure in the middle focus your attention to him as he talks to the reader.
