I was pleasantly surprised when Yale was a late addition to this year's NYCC. I'd only had the chance to meet him once many years ago and I'd wanted to have the chance to connect in person again after years of virtual back and forths.

Of course, I also couldn't let the opportunity go by without picking up another JL8 strip for my collection. The only problem was picking which one, as there are dozens of them I adore.

Ultimately I chose this one for a couple reasons. For one, I didn't have a strip from the Bruce/Karen storyline, and I'm trying to get examples from all the major JL8 adventures. Two, the back and forth between the characters really makes me smile. The expressions really shine here, and Bruce's little dancing bit is a stitch.

But the capper is Alfred's pleased little glances. As the man who’s had a ringside seat to Bruce's trauma, it's wonderful for him to see Bruce being genuinely happy, as well as proud that Bruce was able to overcome some of the personality traits that kept him and Karen apart earlier. The use of the rearview mirror and Alfred's placement in it are top notch.

Man, I am way back and I need to catch up. It's amazing how they've aged! Great pick up and I, too, was pleasantly surprised to run into Yale at the show. Nice pick up!

DC should hire Yale to do JL8 for them full time.
