DescriptionCLICK HERE FOR AUCTION LISTING!19.75x27.75" artboard has had 12 individual panels attached along w/aged title stat. Art is by Dick Tracy creator Chester Gould (1900-1985) and was for Christmas 1955 Sunday page. Art shows Dick Tracy dressed as Santa Claus, using his "2-Way Wrist Radio" to contact Sam Catchem and Pat Patton back at police station to see if they are ready for special Christmas TV broadcast. Tracy pulls up to "Juvenile Home" in his police car to make "One More Pickup." Tracy arrives at the station just in time for nationwide broadcast, showing outlines on police line-up, which turn around to reveal young characters from the Dick Tracy comic strip - Sparkle Plenty, Bonny Braids, Little Wingy as well as Neki and Hokey. Tracy removes his Santa disguise in last panel to join children in wishing "Merry Christmas, Everybody" to audience. First panel features "Crimestoppers Textbook" tip regarding keeping Christmas presents safe in your car while out shopping. Dick Tracy appears in six panels (all but one disguised as Santa). Second to last panel has Chicago Tribune copyright strip. Top left margin has large date written in black marker. Engraving department stamp on back of main artboard, which also has large portion of surface paper attached. Some scattered aging/dust soiling and last panel is missing Gould signature paste-over at bottom w/aged glue visible, but o/w art remains clean and VF/Exc. Great Christmas content. Social/Sharing |
