DescriptionI had the pleasure of meeting Jeremy Bastian this past weekend, and was reminded how great the personal side of the Con experience can be. Not only he was an extremely kind guy, but the more we spoke over the weekend the more interests we realized we shared. That culminated in the deep appreciation of movies, and I will spare you all and nerd out no further in regards to those details. It speaks volumes though in regards to the experience, especially when you consider the real reason that you went to the table is because you already appreciate the artist's work.Jeremy graciously added me to the commission list on Friday, and the end result come Sunday was this beautiful and highly detailed illustration. The subject was Artist's Choice and I knew that he is the perfect artist for such a request. Throughout our conversation, he was taking notes as any good artist should do, and realized that I prefer creatures over anything else, and a creature is what I got! This pelican creature has an almost reptilian or dragon like feathered tail, but also sports some non conventional elements. The crown with the hourglass is such a wonderful part of this drawing not only in concept but also in sick detail! Then you have the skull in the center! No, not me, I don't like skulls at all. You must be mistaking me for someone else. :) If that's not fate for an artist's choice request then I don't know what is. As with all of Jeremy's work, it makes for a piece that you can spend some time looking at. When I picked this up on Sunday I became nervous when I saw the finished piece, I was floored. Overall, I couldn't be more pleased with the art and the whole interaction. I will go out of my way to say hello to Jeremy at future conventions and am left with a solid reminder of the wonderful non art aspects of this hobby. Want to send a sincere thank you to Jeremy Bastian. You better believe this one is going up on the wall. #skullsonwalls ALSO check out the additional image for the customized moon sketch he did inside of Cursed Pirate Girl! Too cool. 6x9 – Artist's Choice Social/Sharing |
