Not familiar with the story, but what a visually interesting cover!

Love the contrast of this piece. Just a beautiful example of how to frame foreground, mid-ground and background. If you squint at the thumbnail, the blacks actually make the shape of a skull (the trees are the eye sockets, the house is the nose cavity and the exposed ribcage the teeth). Love it, Rick! Congrats!

Another great Wolverine cover for your collection. Naturally, the collector who owns the first issue cover should also have the 2nd issue cover, eh Rick? 😀

Gorgeous cover by Messner-Loebs! I was struck by Eranga's comment--When I squint, I DO see a skull! So the scene is seemingly simple and quiet, but hinting at turmoil to come. Very good observation, Eranga!

Pierce: Jesus, Wolverine, seeing you like this just breaks my damn heart.
Joshua: As soon as I rip it out of your chest, fudge-stick.

Wow, I am glad I stopped by to see this . I love the visual trick of the eye with this piece. Furthermore, I love the skull guy with the musket. He makes for a well designed character. Very fun piece.

Yikes - look at that smoke heading straight up like that: that is a COLD day... Really adds to the feel of the frontier life... as does the dead body, of course. Very real and primal dangers await our hero, from both Nature and his fellow man... how can he possibly survive? Another super cool add, Rick! I really need to dig these issues out and revisit them. Outstanding example (like so much of your absolutely incredible collection) from the early days of independent comics. Love Eranga's comment about the skull! Another fantastic piece, Rick!!

Well that didn't end well. Poor guy blew a wagon wheel and was out of uber service area.

Fantastic, Rick! JOURNEY deserves to find a new audience. But if it never does, us '80s fans will always remember it. Congrats and thanks for sharing!
