I prefer published art over commissions but decided to go for a “artist character choice” commission a few weeks ago when I attended the Latino Comics Expo , held at the Comic Art Museum in San Francisco.

The artist, Rafael Navarro, has worked with Warner Animation and writes and draws his own creator owned series, Sonambulo, a series that blends noir tropes with the world of lucha libre (check it out).

Rafael sent me this gorgeous 11x14 rendering of Satana. Satana just so happens to be one of my favorite characters from my early comics reading days. Her appearance in a Claremont-penned issue of Marvel Team-Up immediately captured my interest, for obvious reasons. I love how Rafael approaches the character: cheesecake-y but playfully so. Also picked up a terrific Remarque of Sonambulo.

The drawing has several animation styled long lines that stretch along the figure and hugs her form. Really pretty work! Thicc and Haucheriffic!
